Sneak Preview
of Enterprise Manager Extensibility
updated June 09 2004
Enterprise
Manager Extensibility tools present a significant
shift in the scope and depth of systems
management. For the first time, system
administrators have the ability to monitor and
manage their complete application stack: From
custom software modules to the underlying
infrastructure elements. Armed with the
Zero-barrier to entry extensibility,
administrators are able to easily instrument
custom applications from scratch.
Because
monitoring is inherently built into the Enterprise
Manager architecture, it delivers many benefits
such as out-of-box monitoring, automatic
performance data collection, and intelligent
metric thresholds via metric baselines. An end
user can extend the same benefits to his or her
custom software and hardware targets by adding new
target types for immediate monitoring from within
EM. Users may also route Enterprise Manager alerts
to third party trouble-ticket management systems
and improve their overall system management
workflow by providing access to the Oracle
management content from external
applications.
Please review the
documentation for more details on the
extensibility tools. This download is a preview
version and is not currently supported by Oracle
support services.
