Embarcadero® DBArtisan® 8.1 Continues to Deliver the Most Comprehensive Cross-Platform Database Management Solution
¡ª¡ªFrom Embarcadero Technologies, Inc. Sep 7 2005

New Version Adds Support for MySQL® Network and Microsoft® SQL Server 2005® CTP

Embarcadero® Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: EMBT), a provider of cross-platform data lifecycle management solutions, today announced the general availability of Embarcadero DBArtisan 8.1. This latest version provides database administrators with the most robust cross-platform data and database management solution to date, including support for MySQL Network and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 CTP (Community Technology Preview).

Embarcadero DBArtisan 8.1 provides organizations with significant benefits in the form of higher productivity, improved performance and availability, and increased levels of security across a variety of proprietary and now open source database platforms. Embarcadero's commitment to supporting the latest versions of database platforms like MySQL Network means customers can gain all the benefits of standardizing on a comprehensive solution, while still enjoying the flexibility to upgrade and extend their database environments. Additionally, support for Microsoft's SQL Server 2005 CTP allows customers to evaluate the latest version for their database systems.

"Protecting our customers' information systems is our number one objective as an enterprise security provider," said Anthony Hogan, MSS-database/systems administrator at Internet Security Systems. "DBArtisan allows us to easily manage MySQL and all our database platforms from a single console and quickly access high-level overviews of our clients' data, pinpoint and resolve issues, increase productivity and ensure the security and performance of our customers' systems."

"Embarcadero's products -- especially DBArtisan -- are a great complement to MySQL Network," said Zack Urlocker, vice president of marketing for MySQL AB. "In today's enterprise environments, DBAs need more affordable, better-integrated solutions for managing their large-scale database applications. As DBArtisan becomes MySQL Network Certified, Embarcadero continues to provide robust features and tools that allow our joint customers to take full advantage of the cost savings and performance benefits of our open source database."

Embarcadero DBArtisan, the leading cross-platform database administration solution, helps DBAs maximize availability, performance, and security. Comprehensive graphical editors and wizards boost productivity by reducing errors and permitting existing staff to manage more databases. Support for all major database platforms allows organizations to standardize on one solution.

"The levels in uptake we've witnessed directly from our customers of MySQL Network and SQL Server 2005 CTP demonstrably shows the mission criticality of these database systems," said Greg Keller, vice president of product management, Embarcadero Technologies. "Early on, we saw the relative ease and simplicity of these database systems' installation and distribution and knew that our customers were going to require an immediate solution to govern and administer them as they rapidly came on line. Today's launch of DBArtisan version 8.1 now gives our customers and the industry the single broadest coverage of administration capabilities in a seamless cross-platform workbench, providing DBAs a true single point of control of their open source systems like MySQL Network through distributed systems like Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Oracle, Sybase, and IBM's DB2 LUW and DB2 for z/OS."
