EMC Information Lifecycle Management Solutions to further Unisys 3D Visible Enterprise strategy
EMC Corporation and Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today
announced an expansion of their 13-year alliance to include
the development of new, specialized solutions designed to
help customers address key business challenges 每 especially
the availability of critical information for real-time business
decision-making. The new solutions, expected to focus initially
on three areas of collaboration 每 real-time infrastructure,
solutions for public-sector organizations and enterprise
security 每 are planned to integrate Unisys services and
EMC technology to enable information lifecycle management,
which facilitates movement, availability and use of critical
information throughout the enterprise value chain.
Aligned with the Unisys 3D Visible Enterprise (3D-VE) strategy,
the new solutions are expected to give Unisys clients the
benefits of secure business operations through visibility
into the linkages among their strategic business processes
and underlying IT infrastructure.
The two companies are collaborating on the development
of a Unisys solution that is designed to provide customers
with virtualization, comprehensive monitoring and analysis
of their business and IT infrastructure. The companies plan
to leverage the capabilities of innovative EMC software,
including EMC Smarts, EMC Documentum, and EMC VisualSRM,
along with Unisys expertise and specialized real-time infrastructure
(RTI) services and solutions to provide secure monitoring,
troubleshooting and analysis of business processes and their
associated infrastructure, such as in a data center serving
as a utility for business process outsourcing on a global
basis.
EMC also expects to play a key role as an infrastructure
partner at the Unisys Government Transformation Center in
Reston, Virginia. At this facility, Unisys works with alliance
partners to develop, test and showcase new solutions for
government agencies.
Additionally, the two companies are planning collaborative
projects designed to further secure business operations,
involving the EMC Surveillance, Analysis and Management
(SAMS) solution. This combination of EMC storage platforms,
software and professional services enables the storage,
archiving, fast searching and analysis of petabytes 每 millions
of gigabytes 每 of video and other data from physical security
devices such as surveillance cameras and access control
systems.
"Corporations and government agencies are looking
to align their IT infrastructure more closely with their
overall objectives and processes so they can more effectively
monitor, analyze and respond to events that impact their
business," said BJ Jenkins, EMC vice president, Global
Marketing. "The new solutions we are developing with
Unisys help create that alignment. Together we have a long
history of helping customers meet their challenges using
the unique capabilities of EMC's leading systems and software,
combined with Unisys expertise in IT services. EMC and Unisys
are working to integrate our combined technology and services
expertise to give customers secure, real-time information
they need to make decisions that further their business
and their mission."
The expanded alliance with EMC and the planned solutions
are energized by Unisys
3D-VE strategy, which is designed to enable a client to
see and then act on cause-effect relationships among business
strategy, processes and IT requirements throughout the entire
enterprise and gain unprecedented visibility into the impacts
and costs that can block effective execution. To support
this strategy, Unisys is aligning with an exclusive list
of the world's leading technology providers to deliver customer
solutions that harness its partners' expertise with the
power of 3D Visible Enterprise.
"Just as our clients do business in a marketplace
where boundaries in time and space have disappeared, Unisys
and EMC are expanding the boundaries of our alliance to
benefit our clients," said Manuel Rivera, vice president,
EMC Strategic Alliance, Unisys. "Next-generation joint
solutions based on our companies' complementary strengths
should enable enterprise clients to realize the benefits
of secure business operations to gain strategic advantage
and maximize their business opportunities."
