EMC Documentum Enterprise Content Management Platform Awarded Common Criteria Certification
¡ª¡ªFrom EMC Corporation. Feb 9 2006
Achieves Milestone in Providing Customers a Highly Secure Platform for Managing Mission-critical Content
EMC Corporation, the world leader in information management
and storage, today announced that EMC Documentum 5.3 enterprise
content management (ECM) platform has been awarded the Common
Criteria (CC) certification for meeting the security requirements
as defined by the Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation
Scheme (CCEVS). The Common Criteria certification is a globally
accepted standard for evaluating the security features and
capabilities of information technology products.
"Security is a top priority for our customers, and
EMC is focused on developing solutions that protect the
confidentiality, integrity and availability of their most
critical information assets, ensuring that information remains
an asset, not a liability, through its lifecycle,"
said Balaji Yelamanchili, Vice President and General Manager
of Content Management, EMC Software Group. "This certification
demonstrates our continued commitment to providing the secure
ECM products and solutions that customers expect from EMC."
CygnaCom Solutions' Security Evaluation Laboratory conducted
the independent accredited evaluation of the core Documentum
5.3 platform. The products satisfied all of the functional
security requirements and earned CC certification for Evaluation
Assurance Level 2 (EAL2) from the National Information Assurance
Partnership (NIAP). NIAP is a collaborative initiative between
the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the
U.S. National Security Agency created to meet the security
testing needs of both information technology consumers and
producers. Results of the CC certification of the Documentum
5.3 platform can be found at http://niap.nist.gov/cc-scheme/st/ST_VID10014.html.
EMC Documentum 5.3 platform provides a set of comprehensive,
easy-to-use, highly secure services for managing enterprise
content via EMC Documentum Trusted Content Services. Documentum
Trusted Content Services offers the security features that
customers rely on the most, including repository encryption
for preventing security breaches at the file system level,
electronic signatures for document and content authorization,
mandatory access control for enforcing access-control policies
of all content types, and digital shredding to ensure secure
content disposal, which prevents forensic discovery of deleted
content. These capabilities together make the Documentum
platform one of the most secure systems used by some of
the most security-sensitive customers in government, military,
law-enforcement, defense, energy and financial services.
On February 23, 2006, EMC will host an online event that
demonstrates how EMC Documentum 5.3 platform received CC
Certification, how government agencies and private sectors
are implementing Common Criteria standards worldwide and
how the Documentum platform can address security and compliance
concerns. Registration information for this event can be
found at http://www.emcsoftware-info.com/mk/get/02-23-06_Common_Criteria_Invitation.
