The award recognized products that demonstrated general excellence and attention to detail or an overall innovative concept over the last 12 months.

During PC Professional’s 15th annual awards ceremony, “Innovation of the Year” awards were given in nine product categories—system components, periphery, mobile, multimedia, network, special award, software, open source, and Internet.

In the network technology category, the Decru DataFort storage security appliance finished ahead of the Radware Defense Pro 3020 security switch and the Intel® chip sets 945/955 and 82573E. The panel of judges specifically singled out the unique feature of Decru DataFort to encrypt data at rest on backup media. This innovative feature closes one of the biggest enterprise security gaps.
