Quest Software Introduces New Intelligent E-Mail Archiving Solution
¡ª¡ªFrom Quest Sofrware Inc. Jan 30, 2006

Quest Archive Manager 3.0 Based on Recently Acquired AfterMail Technologyt

Quest Software Inc. (Nasdaq: QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and infrastructure management solutions, today announced Archive Manager 3.0, a new e-mail archiving solution that captures, indexes and stores messaging data for mailbox management, compliance and knowledge sharing. The product is based on innovative technology recently acquired through Quest Software¡¯s purchase of AfterMail Limited (see related announcement dated January 5, 2006).

Quest Archive Manager 3.0 provides benefits in three key areas:

  • Compliance and e-discovery support ¨C Archive Manager captures all e-mail and attachments, including those in PST files, and stores them in a tamper-proof data store. This ensures a complete and accurate record of all e-mail communication across an organization that is available any time to meet audit or legal requirements.
  • Knowledge sharing ¨C Massive amounts of corporate information are found in e-mail, and locking down e-mail data for compliance purposes often results in the loss of this critical business intelligence for other purposes. Only Archive Manager provides secure access to indexed e-mail and attachments, making it usable by Customer Relationship Management systems or web portals such as SharePoint.
  • Mailbox storage management ¨C Archive Manager offers single-instance storage and compression technology to control data volume and decrease storage costs.

¡°Companies must address their e-mail retention and management needs now,¡± said Carolyn DiCenzo, research vice president, Gartner. ¡°Waiting could place their business at risk, given the regulatory requirements and escalating demands for electronic discovery. While many vendors can provide products with some level of compliance capture and archiving, to be considered an enterprise e-mail active-archiving vendor the solution must offer mailbox management and compliance archiving.¡±

¡°Industry analysts recently reported that corporate e-mail accounts for 40 percent of the 135 billion e-mails sent daily around the world,¡± commented Dave Champine, director of product management, Exchange Solutions, Quest Software. ¡°This volume of e-mail creates problems for IT in the areas of storage management, compliance and legal discovery. But it also offers opportunity because there is a wealth of information locked up in e-mail. With Archive Manager 3.0, Quest offers a single solution that addresses both the problems and the opportunities of e-mail management.¡±

Pricing and Availability

North American pricing for Archive Manager 3.0 begins at $40 U.S. per managed mailbox. The product is generally available now, and more information is available at http://wm.quest.com/products/ArchiveManager.
