Quest InTrust 9.0 Ensures Uninterrupted Collection
and Availability of Events and Secure Event Backups

New Capabilities are Among Latest Enhancements to Quest Compliance Suite for Windows
At the RSA Conference 2006, Quest Software Inc. (Nasdaq:
QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and infrastructure
management solutions, today announced availability of Quest®
InTrust 9.0, the newest version of Quest¡¯s heterogeneous
auditing product that is part of Quest¡¯s Compliance Suite
for Windows (see related announcement of Quest Compliance
Portal).
InTrust helps IT comply with regulatory requirements and
enforce internal controls by monitoring access to critical
systems and helping to detect inappropriate or suspicious
access-related events. InTrust securely collects, stores,
reports, and alerts on heterogeneous event data across the
enterprise including Windows-based systems, Linux and Unix
systems, Oracle and SQL databases and firewalls.
Major new capabilities in InTrust 9.0 include:
- Secure agent-side event backup ¨C InTrust
agents ensure that event log data is secure and tamper
proof by creating event backups in a cache that prevents
access to information by a rogue user or administrator.
- Automated server failover ¨C In the
case of hardware failure, all InTrust functionality is
automatically moved to a backup server, ensuring the uninterrupted
collection and availability of secure log files.
¡°Quest has long offered solutions to enhance IT efficiency
and productivity,¡± said Doug Davis, director of product
management, Quest Software. ¡°InTrust is a prime example
of how we are extending this to help with compliance issues.
The newest version ensures availability of systems for event
log collection, even during hardware failure.¡±
Increasing regulatory pressures and internal controls have
created the need for automated solutions like InTrust that
provide value beyond collecting event logs.
According to Gartner, ¡°Organizations should approach event
log analysis as more than a response to the issue of too
many log sources and a sense that there is valuable and
interesting information in all that data, which would be
useful in real-time analysis or archival situations. It
is important to discover and address the myriad issues that
arise in designing, deploying and managing an effective
enterprise wide log analysis capability.¡±1
The newest version of InTrust also offers an auditing pack
for Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS), creating
logs of MIIS activity in the Windows event log format and
providing for MIIS-related auditing and reporting.
InTrust 9.0 is a part of the Quest Compliance Suite for
Windows that also includes Quest InTrust for Active Directory,
Quest Reporter and the Quest Compliance Portal. These solutions
enable IT organizations to establish a baseline of who has
access to critical information, and then to track how that
access is used. Most importantly, the products alert appropriate
personnel in real time to changes that may represent compliance
or security vulnerabilities.
