VERITAS VISION 2005: Record Number of Customers Meet IT Business Requirements

VERITAS highlights another successful year and recognizes customers for their visionary use of the company's software
VERITAS Software Corporation (Nasdaq: VRTS) chairman, president
and CEO Gary Bloom today opened the company's eighth annual
user conference, VERITAS VISION 2005 and highlighted key
milestones of the past year in which the company celebrated
its 15th anniversary, surpassed $2 billion in revenue and
extended its position as the worldwide leading independent
company in storage software. In addition, Bloom highlighted
the broad portfolio of products VERITAS has delivered in
the past year, enabling utility computing through availability,
performance, and automation. The company also recognized
a select group of global customers with VERITAS "VISIONARY"
awards to recognize their exemplary use of VERITAS technology
to achieve quantifiable business results.

for enabling utility computing, a model for computing that
lowers the costs associated with acquiring and managing
IT assets, reduces the complexity of managing heterogeneous
IT environments and enables customers to manage risk and
meet compliance requirements," said Bloom. "With

VERITAS VISIONARY Awards
This year marked the second annual VERITAS VISIONARY Awards,
which recognize customers' innovative use of VERITAS software
to increase IT efficiency, reduce cost and increase the
performance and availability of critical IT systems. The
2005 VISIONARY award recipients include Banco Santander,
Carnival Cruise Lines, Children¡¯s Hospital of Atlanta, Credit
Suisse Group, Hyundai Department Store, NTT Japan and Raymond
James Financial. Selected by a committee of VERITAS executives
and technologists, the 2005 VISIONARY award winners represent
a broad range of industries, global markets and geographic

On Tuesday, April 26, VERITAS plans to make significant
announcements at the VERITAS VISION conference in the areas
of data protection, customer success, and strategic partnerships
in a press conference scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM PST.

Monday, April 25
Gary Bloom, chairman, president and CEO, VERITAS, will
present "Destination: Utility" at 8:30 a.m. PDT.
Bloom will provide a business update, updates on customer
progression toward utility computing and a look into future
solutions that will tie information security and information
availability together through the proposed merger with Symantec.
Jonathan Schwartz, president and chief operating officer,
Sun Microsystems, will present Sun Microsystems vision for
"Culture, IT and Opportunity -- The Future of Secure
Utility Computing" at 2:15 p.m. PDT.
Tuesday, April 26
Daniel Warmenhoven, chief executive officer, Network Appliance,
will explore the technology trends driving newer, simpler,
and more cost-effective solutions and to provide insight
into when customers should adopt new technology in "Destination:
Enterprise Data Management" at 9:30 a.m. PDT.
Mark Bregman, chief technology officer, VERITAS, will present
"Destination: Storage and Server Management" at
1:30 p.m. PDT.
Jeremy Burton, executive vice president, VERITAS, will
present "Ultimate Makeover: Data Management Edition",
the extreme makeover of JoeCIO's data management infrastructure,
at 5 p.m. PDT.
Wednesday, April 27
John Thompson, chairman and CEO, Symantec, will provide
insight into information security and offer a glimpse into
"The Next Destination" for the combined company
following closing of the merger as it integrates information
security with information availability at 9:15 a.m. PDT.
Rick Belluzzo, chairman and CEO, Quantum, will present
"Supporting the Business: The Evolving Data Protection
Imperative", covering data protection trends and the
opportunities and challenges they present to IT professionals
at 10 a.m. PDT.
Mark Bregman, chief technology officer, VERITAS, will present
"Destination: Application Management", demonstrating
VERITAS' Application and Service Management software that
helps reduce cost and risk in the IT infrastructure at 1:30
p.m. PDT.
