VERITAS Positioned in Leaders Quadrant for E-mail Archiving
¡ª¡ªFrom VERITAS Software May 10, 2005
VERITAS Software Corporation (Nasdaq: VRTS) today announced
that it has been positioned in the Leaders Quadrant of Gartner's
Magic Quadrant for E-mail Active-Archiving, 2005. VERITAS'
Enterprise VaultTM e-mail
and content archiving software enables companies and government
agencies to protect critical records, improve employee productivity
and achieve compliance with industry and government regulations
and laws requiring the retention and supervision of e-mails.
According to the Gartner report, vendors included in the
Magic Quadrant are measured on completeness of vision and
ability to execute, and are required to provide Gartner
with at least five reference customers using the product
in production. The vendors are then positioned into one
of the four quadrants: Leaders, Visionaries, Challengers
and Niche Players. According to Gartner, Leaders are vendors
who are performing well today, have a clear market direction
and are actively building competencies to sustain their
leadership position.
VERITAS added Enterprise Vault software to its product
line when it acquired KVS Inc. in September 2004. VERITAS
recently announced the upcoming release of Enterprise Vault
6.0, the first new version under the VERITAS name. Scheduled
for a July 2005 release, Enterprise Vault 6.0 will be available
to Lotus Domino/Notes messaging system users for the first
time, providing coverage for the leading e-mail systems
when combined with its longstanding support of Microsoft
Exchange. Enterprise Vault 6.0 will also enable organizations
to archive other forms of electronic documents and records
including instant messages, Microsoft Windows and Network
Appliance file systems and Microsoft SharePoint documents.
The Gartner report cites mailbox management and the need
to comply with laws and regulations that directly or indirectly
require the retention and supervision of e-mails as the
primary factors driving the rapid growth of the e-mail archiving
market.
"Enterprise Vault is the leading content archiving
software in the Exchange user market with more than 1,200
customer installations worldwide to date managing over 2.4
million mailboxes as of the close of 2004," said Jeremy
Burton, executive vice president, data management group,
VERITAS Software. "By adding support for Lotus Domino/Notes,
we will be able to address the archiving needs of more than
90 percent of the worl's leading corporate messaging systems.
Including support for other types of documents and messages,
such as Microsoft SharePoint and instant messages, will
enable our customers to more effectively manage their growing
records stores, and help ensure full compliance with electronic
document retention and supervision regulations."
