VERITAS Extends Application Service Management Software to Microsoft .NET and SQL Server 2005
¡ª¡ªFrom VERITAS Software June 6, 2005
Latest VERITAS i3 offerings enable IT managers to set and maintain service levels for applications and Web services running on the Microsoft .NET as well as SQL Server 2005
VERITAS Software Corporation (Nasdaq: VRTS) today extended
its application service management software, VERITAS i3,
to support the Microsoft .NET Framework as well as Microsoft
SQL Server 2005 databases. As enterprises increasingly adopt
Microsoft .NET technologies and SQL Server 2005, VERITAS
i3 software will provide IT managers with a comprehensive
set of end-to-end performance and service management tools
that will allow them to proactively monitor, analyze, and
fine-tune their applications and maintain performance and
availability levels for their organizations. VERITAS i3
software is the first database performance tool available
that has been specifically designed to support SQL Server
2005. Additionally, as enterprises optimize the performance
and availability of their applications in a Microsoft Windows
environment, they can further increase levels of data availability
and storage utilization by deploying the latest release
of VERITAS Storage Foundation High Availability (HA) for
Windows version 4.3 (see related press release, issued today)
for an end-to-end solution in their datacenters.
"VERITAS has a proven track record for delivering
advanced software solutions that enhance customer confidence
and migration to our latest operating systems and database
offerings," said Paul Flessner, senior vice president
of Enterprise Servers at Microsoft. "With VERITAS i3
for .NET and SQL Server 2005, our mutual customers will
now have the ability to proactively manage the service and
performance levels of their SQL Server 2005 databases as
well as the Web services and applications running across
their .NET environments."
One of the challenges that IT managers have faced to date
with Web services running across the .NET Framework has
been the absence of production tools that enable them to
fine-tune the availability and performance levels of key
Web services. With the introduction of VERITAS i3 for Microsoft
.NET, IT managers will now have the ability to not only
develop and deploy scalable .NET Framework-based Web services
and applications but also proactively monitor and manage
performance and availability levels. VERITAS i3 for Microsoft
.NET offers extensive visibility into the operation of production
.NET Framework-based applications allowing IT managers to
proactively identify and eliminate costly performance bottlenecks
before they impact end-users or customers.
As customers begin testing the SQL Server 2005 Community
Technology Preview (CTP) releases in test environments,
IT managers will now have the ability to provide application
performance analysis using VERITAS i3 for SQL Server. They
will now be able to optimize end user response times to
specified service levels by proactively monitoring, analyzing,
and tuning their SQL Server 2005 environments before performance
bottlenecks impact database service levels. VERITAS i3 for
SQL Server provides key application, database, system and
storage statistics and analysis data to provide a smooth
migration to SQL Server 2005. In addition, VERITAS i3 for
SQL Server will provide visibility into transactions that
cross the entire application allowing IT managers to set
and meet service level agreements.
"VERITAS continues to lead the industry in delivering
advanced support for the latest releases of leading software
platforms such as Microsoft .NET and SQL Server 2005, giving
customers confidence in migrating or upgrading to the latest
application and database performance advancements available,"
said Robert Maness, vice president, application service
management group, VERITAS. "VERITAS i3 software will
provide IT managers with the tools and visibility necessary
to help ensure that mission critical Microsoft applications
are upgraded to technologies such as the .NET Framework
and SQL Server 2005 without detrimental performance issues."
Availability and Pricing
VERITAS i3 for .NET and SQL Server 2005 is scheduled to
be generally available in July 2005. Pricing for VERITAS
i3 for .NET starts at USD $1,500 per CPU. Pricing for VERITAS
i3 for SQL Server starts at USD $1,000 per CPU.
